We’re Still Here for You – Contactless, COVID-Safe Car Repairs in Hamilton
Just a quick yarn for everyone wondering about how things work at Grimmer Motors these days with all the COVID-19 business. We’re still keeping Hamilton running – whether you’re out in Rototuna dealing with those sneaky potholes on Gordonton Road, or you’re slogging up and down State Highway 1 from Cambridge into the city, you need your car running right.
With the COVID rules changing all the time, here’s the lowdown on how we’re working to keep you, your family, and all of us safe at the workshop.
How We’re Operating During COVID Levels
Right now, we’re “on-call” and operating under contactless service. That means, if you’re an Essential Service Worker, we’ll get you back on the road safe and sound during the Level 4 lockdown.
As soon as we hit Level 3, we open our doors for everyone, but yep – still all contactless. It’s all to keep everyone fed, working, and out of strife – without putting anyone at risk.
COVID-Safe Precautions: What’s Actually Happening In The Workshop?
We get plenty of questions – what are we doing to keep things safe? Short answer: heaps. Whether you’re driving a Suzuki Swift from Tamahere, a Honda Fit from Hillcrest, or that European Peugeot 208 that’s always coping with the speed bumps in Frankton, we treat every car like it’s our own.
Here’s what’s going on behind the scenes, every day:
Keeping Things Sparkling
Reception gets a tidy-up and disinfectant blitz multiple times a day: handles, counter, Eftpos, pens, you name it. No old magazines lying around now either – less chance for bugs to lurk.
Contact Points Wiped Clean
Any shared gear – car keys, Eftpos machine, computer stuff – all gets wiped down, before and after every use. Seriously, even the Toyota Estima fobs aren’t safe from our cleaning cloths.
Your Car – Clean and Safe
Before touching your car, and after we’re done, we’ll wipe down what you (and we) use: steering wheel, gear stick, indicators, door handles. Lately, one of our techs reckons gloves are the way to go – keeps everyone feeling good, especially on the buses and MPVs we see coming in from Te Kowhai or Ohaupo.
Everyone’s pumped to keep washing their hands properly – not just a quick rinse! Proper 20-second scrub, every time.
Social Distancing and No Handshakes
You’ll see a plastic chain up in reception – that’s not just for show, it’s 2 metres apart for a reason. No handshakes (sorry, Mum taught us better anyway), and if you’re hanging about, we’ll get you to wait at a distance or call/text when your Corolla or Hyundai ix35’s ready to roll out.
Looking Out for Our Team and You
All our workshop crew are double vaccinated, and we keep up to scratch with all the new info. Anyone feeling a bit crook isn’t coming in, simple as that. And no randoms in the workshop – just the Grimmer Motors crew, keeping things tidy and safe.
Plus, decent hand-dryers in the loos (yep, swish Dyson stuff), no clammy old towels, just breeze-dried hands.
