As of August 19, 2021, Grimmer Motors is “On-Call” during COVID-19 Alert Level 4.
We are operating on a “contactless” basis to keep vehicles operating for Essential Service Workers
At Covid 19 Alert Level 3 we will be open for everyone on a “contactless” basis.
What precautions are we taking to prevent the spread of COVID-19?
For a lot of New Zealanders, our cars serve as our primary form of transport. With this in mind, it is important that people always have access to auto repairs when they need them. Car repair workshops have been classified as “Essential Services” in New Zealand.
Grimmer Motors is “on-call” throughout the pandemic as we help keep vehicles operating for essential work purposes. However, the health and safety of our customers and staff will be of our highest priority and we are therefore working on a “contactless” basis. To reduce the risk of coronavirus / Covid 19 spreading, we have taken the following measures:
Disinfection of reception and heavily used surfaces:
- The reception area is kept as clean as possible, with regular disinfecting of contact surfaces, such as reception door handles, chair armrests, countertops, desktops, bathroom door handles, plus anything else that has shared contact points.
- We have removed the magazine rack from reception to avoid many people handling the same books and magazines.
Disinfection of items:
- Directly shared contact points are wiped down and kept as clean as possible, such as Car Keys, EFTPOS machines, Pens, Computer Keyboards, and Mice, plus anything else that has more than one person touching it.
Keeping your vehicle clean:
- We wipe down with disinfectant the steering wheel, gear stick, indicator stem, car door handles, and any other shared areas of contact before and after working on the customer’s vehicle.
- The Grimmer Motors team is encouraged to frequently wash their hands (for 20 seconds) before, during, and after working on a customer’s car.
- Some of our technicians choose to wear gloves while working on customers’ cars.
Encouraging safe distances with a minimal contact policy
- We have put a plastic chain up in reception to keep our customers and team at least 2 meters apart, for mutual safety (level 2).
- Meetings are held with our team members standing or sitting at least 2 meters apart
- We no longer shake hands with anyone (level 2)
- We ask customers to sit as far apart from each other as possible if waiting for their vehicle to be finished, or leave the premises, and we will call / text as soon as the vehicle is ready (level 2)
Precautions are taken by staff
- All of our mechanics have had both their Covid 19 vaccinations keeping them and you safer from Covid 19.
- Our team has been given all the latest information about how to avoid Covid 19 such as not touching their face
- Our team members are encouraged to avoid any contact with people recently back from overseas or any unnecessary gatherings outside of working hours, and that could lead them into contact with carriers of Covid 19.
- Any team member who is feeling sick or has cold symptoms will be asked to stay home
- No one except Grimmer Motors Employees is allowed in the workshop / near the vehicles or team members.
- The Grimmer Motors team is encouraged to frequently wash their hands (for 20 seconds) before, during, and after working on a customer’s car.
Installation of hand-dryers
- We have installed a top-of-the-line Dyson V air hand dryer in the mechanics washroom and have also installed an air hand dryer in the customer bathroom to avoid sharing the use of towels.
