Why get one?
From 1 November 2026, many cars between 4 and 14 years old will only need a Warrant of Fitness every two years (see WOF changes 2026: when is my next WOF due?). That saves you a trip, but your car could go two years without a mechanic checking the things that keep you safe.
Most cars travel 10,000 to 15,000 km a year, so tyres, brakes, wipers, lights and vital fluids can wear or run low well before your next WOF is due. That’s why we recommend a Safety & Fluid Check in the year between your WOFs, or every six months if you do a lot of driving.
What we inspect
Tyres
Tread depth and condition, so your car keeps its grip.
Brakes
Correctly working brakes are vital to your car’s safety.
Rust
Rust can develop and affect your car’s structural condition.
Lights
Brake lights, headlights, indicators and all other lights.
Windscreen
Cracks and other damage, plus how your wipers work.
Doors
Open and close properly.
Safety belts
Torn or frayed belts can be unsafe in a crash.
Airbags (if fitted)
We check the Airbag/SRS warning light and system.
Steering & suspension
Problems here affect your car’s stability and steering.
Exhaust & fuel system
No leaks, and no excess emissions.
Fluids we check
We’ll check these levels and advise you if any are low.
