Here’s how to give your mag wheels a good clean:
1. Rinse your wheels
The first step is to use a hose to rinse loose dirt and dust from your brakes off your mag wheels. For best results, use an adjustable nozzle on your hose or use a water blaster (just make sure it’s not set to high pressure).
2. Soak your wheels
Once you’ve given your wheels a good rinse, the next step is to soak your wheels by spraying them with a specialty wheel cleaning product. Make sure you spray a good amount of cleaner onto each wheel – including into all of the hard-to-reach spaces. You can then leave the wheels for a few minutes so that the cleaner can break down any grime.
3. Scrub the wheels
After leaving your wheels to soak in the cleaner for a few minutes, the next step is to give them a good scrub to remove all the dirt and dust. Start with the wheel that is the least dirty so the dirtier ones have more time to soak. For best results use a soft-bristled brush that is flexible so it can get into all of the hard-to-reach spaces on the mag wheels such as around the rim screws.
4. Rinse and wipe the wheels
Once you have given the wheels a good scrub you can then rinse the wheels again with your hose or water blaster. After you have removed all of the cleaning products you can then use a soft microfiber cloth to dry the mags off.
5. Apply wax
The next step is to apply wax to the mags to give them a shiny finish and to add an extra layer of protection from dust and dirt from being able to stick to your mags. For the best results use a detailing pad with wax on it and rub it into the wheels until they are shiny, and no streaks are remaining.
6. Apply Tyre Shine
The final step is to apply tyre shine to the tyres to darken them and make them really standout with a contrast between your clean shiny mag rims and your blackened tyres. This will make your wheels look amazing!!
